How to get cited in media articles relating to your domain?

How does one get interviewed/cited in articles? Someone once told me there was a service that you could sign up with if you were interested in being contacted by journalists who were covering a particular domain. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

It might have been this service, Help A Reporter Out, http://www.helpareporter.com/, in which journalists ask the list at large for comment.

I was going to say HARO. They also have a Twitter feed - might want to check it out to get an idea of what the emails would look like.

I've heard my local public radio station soliciting listeners to join the Public Insight Network, which sounds exactly like you describe.

Besides HARO there's also ProfNet, SourceBottle, and MediaKitty.

Here's a (fairly comprehensive, but by no means complete, I'm sure) collected list dated from 2012.
