Help me make this awesome playlist!

Looking for songs that would sound good on a playlist with I Am The Walrus (The Beatles) and Subterranean Homesick Blues (Bob Dylan)

And yes, I know about Pandora :) The recommendations I get from AskMe are 1,000 times better!

Octopus's Garden and Yellow Submarine could make great callbacks on the Beatles underwater theme. For some reason Subterranean Home Blues reminds me of Queen's We Will Rock You.

I LOVE Alone Again Or, the Damned did a nice verson of it. Which would be nice for a bit of a change and not so sixties. It's angsty!

Money-Flying Lizards

Mexican Radio-Wall of Voodoo

Cheap Date-Tommy Tutone

I Eat Cannibals-Toto Coelo

Okay, that's kind of a deep dive into my psyche for a Monday afternoon.

I guess this one's pretty abstract. If I were to describe both songs, I'd say something to the effect of "rhythmic, psychedelic word collage." The rhythm in John and Bob's talk-singing, plus the abstract, psychedelic imagery in lyrics. That's what ties the two songs together, in my mind.

Devils Rancher introduced me to Steve Earle's "Warrior," which checks for speech-song, and word collage. (Disclaimer: Not my favorite Steve, by far, but it might suit your purposes.)

The Hayes Carll tune I mentioned above also checks for song-speech and a psychedelic element. It's a terrific song in its own right, but the echoes of "Subterranean Homesick Blues" are strong.

Utopia (the Todd Rundgren group) has an album called Deface The Music, which is a collection of purposely Beatles-esque songs from throughout their career. The song on the album that is equivalent to I Am The Walrus (IMHO) is called Everybody Else Is Wrong. I recommend that.

(My favorite song on the album is Hoi Polloi which is the Penny Lane equivalent.)
