High Points of Western Civilization

I'm looking for a book that tells a cohesive high points summary of Western Civilization. I've read one of the CLEP study guides, but I get lost in the smaller events and need a framework to connect all the events together.

I'm studying for a CLEP test.

Best answer: Really not sure if this is quite what you're looking for, but A Little History of the World by Ernst Gombrich is a quick and engaging read. If it seems too simple for your needs, you can always supplement with more advanced material.

This is not a study guide, but it's a good book. ''The Passion of The Western Mind'' by Richard Tarnas.
