Urine/Cigarette
June 2, 2014 8:29 AM
If you smoke a cigarette that you peed on the night before (dried out now), will it make you sick? (like more sick than just usual smoking risk)?
Well, you can drink it. But I'd be willing to bet that no one, anywhere, has a definitive answer to this question.

If you think about it, urine is all the waste that is bad for you that your body is excreting, then you are going to dry it out, smoke it and inhale it into your lungs. I'm pretty sure that can't be good for you, but if you think about it, neither is smoking anything and people smoke all kinds of dirty shit and seem not to immediately die from it.

Not sure if it would make you sick, but might signal you already are? Seriously, say wha?

Studies assessing the impact of urea exposure on lung function indicate that the effects are minimal. Source.

For what it's worth, my cat once peed on my stovetop and I didn't notice it -- the smell of hot pee is many, many times more vile than the normal smell of pee.

There's already urea in cigarettes, usually sourced from rats. Knock yourself out.

Have you ever smelled burning pee--like when a bunch of people think it's a cool idea to piss on a fire to try and put it out?
I have. It was one of the worst things I have ever smelled in my entire life. If a cigarette covered in dry piss smells anything like that, I think it's very likely that your experiment will result in vomiting.

I think this should be considered a serendipitous test of your ability to withstand the forces of nicotine addiction.

Well, in this at-the-time-infamous exchange between anti-smoking advocates and the industry, Lorillard called urea a "a compound that naturally occurs in the tobacco leaf" and denied using it as a specific additive. Its presence, however, according to an internal 1989 memo:
is believed to be an important additive for three reasons, it reduces benz[a]pyrene, it greatly reduced formaldehyde, and it improves the taste.
Which should tell you all you need to know ... at least about the tobacco industry.

A friend asked me this question and I asked the hivemind. I would NEVER do this. Just to be clear and make sure the good name of Josher71 is not besmirched.

I think it's time for your friend to consider Nicorette.
