Happy hooping playlist needed.

What funky, upbeat music should be on my next hooping playlist?

I'm an avid hula hooper and I need some new tunes to dance to! I'm also training to teach hooping with a friend who has an established fitness business, so I need to come up with playlists for teaching classes.

Stuff I like hooping to: LCD Soundsystem, MIA, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, Scissor Sisters, Arcade Fire, TV on the Radio, John Newman, Knife Party, Kimbra, The Clash, Nina Simone, The Black Keys, Stevie Wonder, T-Rex, Gotan Project.

Please recommend happy songs with a good beat. Preferably shorter tunes for teaching purposes, but suggestions of longer tracks for my own personal practice are more than welcome. Doesn't have to be electronic dance music but that's welcome too. Thanks all!

Best answer: Check out Jamie Lidell, he is super-fun(ky). Pharrell William's newest album 'GIRL' is also non-stop happy funk.

'Rattlesnake' by St Vincent is my current 'need mood lift now!' pickup.

For a little 00's retro, Timbaland/Nelly Furtado's 'Promiscuous Girl' and/or Timbaland/Justin Timberlake's 'Carry Out'. Going back a little further than that, 'Queen of the Night' from the Bodyguard soundtrack.

Peaches is also great, although most of her songs probably are not appropriate for class.

Maybe 'Electric Feel' by MGMT?

Coffin Nails by MF Doom (ignore the song title AND artist name, it's a super-bubbly instrumental).

Best answer: Self - Suzie Q Sailaway (2:25)
Shapeshifters - Circuit City (4:17)
Robyn - Konichiwa Bitches (2:39)
The Fading Collection - Windshield (3:49)
Apsci - Pep Rally (3:03)
Kenna - Freetime (3:24)

You've got a lot of great people on your playlist already (MIA, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, etc)! It's too funny that as I'm picking songs I'm air-hooping in my chair to make sure it's not too fast of a song.

Best answer: Stars - Take Me to the Riot
Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks
MGMT - Kids
Sky Ferreira - Lost in My Bedroom
Sky Ferreira - 17
Cut Copy - Hearts on Fire
Cut Copy - Lights and Music
Phoenix - 1901
Regina Spektor - On the Radio
XX - Crystalised
Patrick Wolf - Magic Position

If you're up for adding some more "mainstream" music:
Rihanna - Where Have You Been
The Killers - Somebody Told Me
Kanye West - Heartless
Beyonce - Diva

90's nostalgia:
Santana - Smooth

(Some of these may be too up tempo, but I like having some faster songs for when I really want to work up a sweat while hooping)
