Best alternative to Skype for Android and PC?

I'm getting tired of Skype constantly resetting my phone while video chatting

I was trying to do Skype video chatting today on my Nexus 4 with the latest Android version 4.4.2 and had just updated the Skype app, but my phone is constantly resetting after 5 minutes, 1 minute, and even instantly. I've Googled it and there's no clear solution, so for future use I'd like to know the best free alternative option to Skype that's available on both Android and PC for video chats.

Google Hangout, surely.

Ya Google hangout. Free and baked into android and browser based on PC. Also seems to be better on bandwidth as i often use across oceans etc with really good success.

Came in to recommend what the others have said, Google Hangout. Even my mother, in her late 70s can use it. That is the good news. The bad news is that because she can, she does use it. Often. And every time she uses it, she never fails to mention the marvel of the video phone she has been hearing about for over 50 years.

tl;dr Hangouts.

I use Skype on my nexus 4 without problem. Have you tried a hard reset of your phone?
