We are doing secret Santa exchange in which everyday we leave a small gift for the recipient. I want to make all my little gifts tie together using a poem. The idea would be to leave a few lines each day or something. Please Hive lend me a hand! Here are the gifts:

First day : Vanilla scented candle
Day two: a wreath made of bells
Day three: Blueberry almonds
Day four: bottle of wine, her fav kind

Can you recommend ideas of how to do it, or poems I can use?

The Twelve Days of Christmas springs to mind. Ie: "On the first day of Christmas, my [workmate] gave to me...[a candle from the vanilla treeeeeee]"

Best answer: Okay, it's a bit of a rush job and I'm not sure if it scans well, but how about:

It's only day one, but the fun has begun,
The spirit of giving is great!
I know it's a mystery but I hope from your history
I've found a gift you will not hate!

It's already day two, we're halfway through,
this Secret Santa Exchange!
I found something charming; that's not too alarming,
Though you might find the noises quite strange!

It's now day three, oh how can that be?
This season goes by so fast.
This lastest present is certainly not a pheasant,
do you think I am stuck in the past?

And here's day number four, I hope it's not a bore
to receive gifts four days in a row.
The last one's the best, now it's time for a rest
Cheers to you and all those you know!

Feel free to modify as desired.

Best answer: I kind of like the idea of leaving the rhymes hanging as a hint for the next day's present, e.g.

FIRST DAY
For the first day of Christmas I'd like to bestow
The warmth and the scent of this candle's bright glow
Stay tuned for tomorrow, when I will bequeath...

SECOND DAY
...the jingling of bells on this Christmas-y wreath
[poem continues, with a hint for the next day]

Except a little less terrible and made up on the spot, obviously.
