.... But I don't want to share by email....

My Nexus 4 phone (running Android 4.4) has started insisting that when I want to share a page via Chrome, I HAVE to do it via email. I've tried resetting defaults in Chrome and email, and uninstalling the updates, but it still keeps insisting if I want to share, I have to do it via email - whereas before, it'd allow me to decide which service to share to. Any idea what else I can do ?!

Best answer: That's a bug with 4.4 where the sharing settings get "stuck". The 4.4.1 update rolling out now supposedly fixes it. (actually 4.4.2 seems to be rolling out today to fix some more bugs as well)

Android updates are released on a staggered schedule so not all devices receive them at the same time, but everyone should get the new update over the next week or so.

From here it looks like since clearing defaults didn't work for you, you could install a different app dialog for the sharing itself, and they list an example.

I haven't tested this, nor the app recommended. I got bit by this bug with torque sharing only via go sms, but I did an oem unlock (which will factory reset) to root my tab before coming across this solution.

Best answer: Oh, I'll add that the link I sent recommends resetting all app preferences (via the menu option in settings->apps->all ) while it looks like you only individually cleared the apps. Via that method, they note the bug my hit you again, but it doesn't involve installing anything new.
