How to get Premier league tickets (West Ham vs Aston Villa)?

I'll be in London soon and wanted to see the West Ham vs Aston Villa Premier league game. I could not seem to get tickets through either team, and the only other options I see are websites that have lots of reviews that people got bad tickets and no refund. Are there any suggestions from people in London or premier league fans on how to get tickets?

The West Ham United official website has a link to the box office to buy tickets that I can view from the UK. Are you outside the UK?

Try the West Ham site again, they're available there now. Looks like you'll need to register.

On preview: I'm outside the UK at the moment and I can see the link just fine.

By way of background: you won't get tickets to any game from the away team - they have a limited number of tickets that they'll sell to members/season ticket holders.

Typically the home team will sell tickets to members first, and then if they don't sell out will put them on general sale to anybody else, which may be what has happened here.

As a general point, an American friend of mine got tickets for a West Ham game through the concierge at his hotel, though they were expensive (but it was West Ham v Man Utd, so it was a high demand game).

I just went through this, trying to get tickets to an Arsenal match. You have a few options:

- See if the fans of either team run an informal ticket exchange. Arsenal, for example, has @arsenal_tickets on Twitter; people looking for tickets tweet at the account what they're looking for, the guy who runs it retweets them, and people who have matching tickets respond. The advantage is that all tickets are face value; the downside is that you might not actually get tickets.

- Check to see if Thomas Cook has a matchday package for the game. The downside is that it's expensive and requires you to book a hotel room (although you don't have to stay in it).

- Join West Ham as a member and buy tickets through them (as others have suggested). This is what I did for Arsenal and (although I had to pay ~$50 each for both me and my girlfriend) it was absolutely worth it. Not only did I get outstanding (face value) tickets for the match I planned ahead for, when I arrived in London a few days before a Champions League match I was able to get a ticket on a whim.

And as Infinite Jest said, if you're going to do this you basically have to go through West Ham and their fans.
