I would like to download a particular Facebook Chat session.

Been communicating with a family member who prefers Facebook Chat to other forms of chat, and I would like to download the entire conversation to have the text at my disposal. I can scroll up and laboriously copy/paste, but this is tedious. Difficulties: 9 months of a pretty much every day conversation, going back to March of this year. Mac OS.

Copy/paste bites because it also copies every instance of our avatars, which quickly makes for an unwieldy local document. If I hit the "download all my data" button, does that include chat conversations?

If you do stick with copy paste, do so into a text file - scraps the avatars and formatting.

Alternative - going forward - use a paid version of Trillian with chat logging to keep it handy.

Yep.

Response by poster: Okay, well that one's in the Ask database. The messages.htm file I got as a result of downloading all my data is a tad unwieldy, but much better than the copy/paste file I had abandoned last month.
