Boston bars where a bro can have beers with his MacBook open?

Is there a bar in town where I can work on my computer whilst enjoying a local brew and plates of unhealthy appetizers?

Note: Not really a bro. Just wanted to attempt some form of alliteration.

New to town and I work at a sports tech startup, so I'm working all day at the office, and at night during professional games. It's a blast but working in the evening from home or a coffee shop has just grown tired.

Yes, I could just whip my MacBook out at any bar with wifi and ignore the haters, but I'm just not that guy. I want to behave in a way that's complimentary to the norms of the bar I'm in.

I live in Fenway and work in Kendall, so anything in those areas or in between works well. Actually, any place works well because I have a bike and I'm interested to get to know more of this awesome city.

Cambridge Brewing Company has wi-fi, if I recall correctly, but no accessible power outlets. Might be a bit difficult during the evening rush to have a computer at the bar.

Joe Sent Me in North Cambridge is usually quiet enough that you could get a table to work. Can't recall the wi-fi situation.

PJ Ryan's in Teele Square has unadvertised wi-fi but no power that I can remember. Gets crowded on game nights.

I have brought computers/stacks of books to all those places and no one has ever said boo. Especially around Kendall where all the tech start-ups are I think you're going to find most of the bars are pretty used to people bringing work with them.

Urbanspoon can filter restaurant recommendations by wi-fi availability if you need it.

You probably realize this, but almost any bar in Kendall will meet that need. Moving toward Central, try Miracle of Science.

Cafe Trident on Newbury St in Boston is a bookstore with a cafe and bar, serving bottled beer and wine. Good appetizers too. I don't remember their wifi availability, but I bet they've got it.

Diesel Cafe in Davis. Wi-fi, outlets, pool table, photobooth. Can get crowded, but in a good way.

On preview, no alcohol.

I bet Sunset Grill in Allston would work on a slow night. It's big enough and restaurant-like enough that i doubt anyone would be bothered.

Oh my goodness, I'd love to find a place like that myself. I'm about to give up and join a coworking space (possibly one that offers beer..)

Cafe Trident is a great candidate, but definitely doesn't have a bar feel to it. It definitely doesn't feel like your typical cafe either though, so I'd encourage you to try it.

Voltage Coffee + Art in Kendall does have that cafe feel but also serves beer I think. Wifi comes with purchase.

The Arts at the Armory Cafe in Somerville feels like a calm little lounge that happens to sell cafe-food and beer and wine. Wifi and outlets available. A little out of the way, but I liked it when I went.

Diesel tops my list... I'm actually a bit surprised it doesn't offer alcohol. Oh well.

I actually would never have thought to work at any of the bars around Kendall. Some of them don't even open until later in the day (I'm looking at you meadhall..). They seem to all get very crowded and bustly..
