Why is a Cleveland/Detroit MLB game blacked out in Northern California?

We are DirecTV customers outside of San Francisco. MLBN is broadcasting a Tigers/Indians or Dodgers/Cardinals baseball game that is on at 7:05 ET. How could this possibly be blacked out for me?

My guess would be that "or dodgers." Welcome to the magical world of MLB blackout zones!

Is it being nationally broadcast? That'll do it.

Would it have anything to do with the fact that the Giants are playing later today, and the blackout is to force encourage you to support the home team?

Even though you're certainly not in the Los Angeles blackout region according to MLB, (See here) this usually occurs because satellite/cable regions don't line up properly with MLB regions. Some friends of mine on the East coast had this problem.

synecdoche: MBLN is a national channel, and OP is suggesting that neither game is available locally.

ceribus peribus: The Giants played earlier today. Further, that flavor of blackout usually encourages viewers to watch the national broadcasts (though this might be different when the national feed is from MLBN).

Have you tried calling DirecTV? Because it would seem the intent is to show the Tigers/Indians game in all markets except those team's local markets.

Never fear, the Indians/Tigers game was a snooze if you're a baseball fan or a heartbreaking disaster if you're an Indians fan like me. You seem like a pretty good person, so you're probably not a Tigers fan, so all is well.

Twice in the last month MLB Network has claimed to be broadcasting the Red Sox but when I tuned in it was not the Red Sox. I wonder if they are changing their games at the last minute and the schedule didn't update properly, and in this case they changed to a game that would be blacked out for you.
