Whats with the old news Facebook?

Since updating the Facebook app on my android phone I've been getting random status update notifications on my phone. How can I disable this "feature"?

The notifications are totally random, weeks can go by without getting one and then I'll get 3 or 4 in a week. The notifications only show up on my phone not on the web version of facebook. None of the people I'm getting notifications from are in my 'close friends' list. The worst part though is that none of these notifications are even new. They're always at least 10-12 hours out of date (but when you click on the notification it always shows as being posted 'just now'), the one I got this morning is a week old!

Have you disabled all notifications in the Facebook app and you're still getting them? If so, go into your phone settings, then Application Manager, select the Facebook app and uncheck the "show notifications" box. That should stop it if the app's own settings won't. This method should work for any app/notifications on your phone btw.

If you've done all this and you're still getting random old notifications, I would look for another app that you've linked your Facebook account to as the source. Long-pressing a notification will take you directly to the app info page for the app that triggered it.

Best answer: Oh geez, I got those for a while too, and they are totally infuriating.

The setting to turn them off is buried. Tap the hamburger button, then go to Account Settings > Notifications > Mobile Push > and uncheck "Activity you've missed".

I wish I could just get rid of Facebook, but unfortunately there are too many family members on it.
