Where can I find a replica of the green pendant from Velvet Goldmine? There's nothing like it on Etsy and my Googlefu is failing me.

Response by poster: (failing that, where can I get one made? It doesn't have to be made of precious material - I don't quite have the budget for that - but the look and idea is more important.)

Is it it gold-toned or silver-toned? What's your budget?

Are you crafty?

You could make it out of jewelers wax and drop it off at a local casting shop to turn into silver. You could make it out of precious metal clay and use a kiln/blowtorch to sinter (fuse) it into solid silver.

You could make it out of sculptey, oil clay, or wax, and then cast it yourself in pewter. Or take it to a local bronze foundry to cast in bronze, but it is too small a job for them.

I'd talk to these folk or a local rock shop about a cabochon. (The stone bit.)

You can also shop it out to etsy or any local jeweler. Note that even if it doesn't need to be made out precious metal, it's taking up the time of a skilled craftsperson so the cost may reflect that.

This isn't the exact same thing, but I found it by searching for vintage mood stone pendant. It looks a lot like mood rings from the 1970's, but in a pendant form.

Response by poster: UPDATE:

So I couldn't find premade replicas of this anywhere (Etsy, eBay, Google searching) but I did stumble upon CustomMade, a website where you can put in a request for a custom item and related artisans will get back to you with proposals. I worked with Cynthia Teare of Eclectic Art, who was very patient with me and persevered through this process even when the first attempts broke and she had to delay the due date by a month!

This was a surprise for my girlfriend, who had fallen in love with the symbolism of the pendant and really wanted one of her own. We had major relationship trouble while the pendants were being made - oddly reflected in the troubles of the actual pendant making - but we resolved our differences in time for these pendants to be ready. Life imitates art imitates life!

I gifted her with one of the pendants on Thursday (I got a matching one for myself too). Apparently her brain broke. we now wear them everywhere.
