Young adult novel with nuclear pool?

I'm trying to remember the name of a young adult novel I read (in the 80's or 90's) where a character is forced to do some work with radioactive materials at the bottom of a pool.

I can't tell you what this is, but I read it, too. I think it has a sci-fi or fantasy plot, though that could be a derail.

I remember this too. Was it about an adolescent with a clone or robot of some kind? I think the word "Omega" played into it, either as part of the title or as an important part of the plot.

Best answer: aaebig, close! I'm thinking of another sequel in the "Robot Buddy" series, Omega Station. Jahaza, I'm petty sure that in Omega Station, the "robot buddy" had to do some work in a radioactive pool, but I can't find a detailed description.

Here's a redditor who thinks the same thing, but it doesn't show up in a google books search.

Best answer: You're right - I was thinking the radioactive pool thing was in C.O.L.A.R. but here's a review that mentions it in Omega Station.

Response by poster: Yep, from reading the review it's definitely Omega Station.
