Kindle Screen DIY Fix
April 27, 2013 2:46 PM
I was wondering if there's a DIY fix for a kindle screen (e-ink, not touchscreen). Mine's broken and out of warranty.
+1 to disillusioned's advice. Call, be nice, be vague, and they might be nice back. My kindle's screen was, uh, mysteriously broken and with remarkably few questions Amazon just shipped me another. As has been said, their real profits are in you continuing to buy books on their Marketplace (which I have done!).

Yeah, try asking them nicely for a replacement. That having been said, I replaced the e-ink screen on a kindle and it was not very hard, the hardest part was getting the case apart. Memail me if you want specific instructions on how to do that.

Seriously, Amazon's customer support is much closer to no-questions-asked-keep-them-happy, especially on a device built to generate recurring revenue from selling books.
Ask and I bet you're pleasantly surprised.
