Can You Help Me Find Korean Edition Ebooks?
April 21, 2013 8:04 AM

I live in Korea, but I'm finding it difficult to obtain Korean edition ebooks through Yes24, Aladdin, Kyobo, or even Google Play, because I have a US credit card. Does anyone know of other, hassle-free sources? Thanks in advance.

Um, don't you have a Korean bank account and debit card? Or do you really need to put it on the credit card?

I have a Korean bank account and debit card, but all of the online ebook retailers require actual credit cards. As a foreigner, getting a credit card is difficult without a two year contract, which an E-2 visa does not provide. I'm on an E-2 visa.

Do you read or speak Korean? Do you have a Korean cell phone?

It looks like Aladdin can do cell phone transactions, as well as 무통장입금/무통장송금, or "deposit/deposit without a bank account". You can do the latter at most ATMs - insert cash, and type your bank / their bank numbers to send money. Here's an English guide, under Transfer (2). Scroll down a little.
