Calling from Asia over android tablet

Currently in Asia and want to call US cheap. What options besides Skype do I have? Not a big fan of sim cards as they are hard to find here.

I am currently in Asia and would like to call the US and am looking for options. I have my iphone, my android nexus and my laptop. Looking for a cheap alternative to regular sim cards and would prefer to use my nexus for it. I have Skype but have used Onesuite in the US and wondering if there are other options besides these.

Thank you.

If you have access to wifi then I know a lot of friends who have used the KakaoTalk app successfully. Works with messaging too.

I am currently in India. Within the last year, they made it harder to get SIM cards for everyone. Even last April SIMs were sometimes free with talk-time included. I have only seen them as cheap as 60 rupees recently. But they may be more for tourists, as there are supposed to be designated 90-day only SIMs for them/us. I do not think SIMs are hard to find, though you may need to search a little to have someone willing to do the paperwork. I usually use Skype, but I have a vodaphone SIM and get 2.4 rs/minute to the US with a no-cost special.

We recently used a Vodaphone Mumbai without problems and recharge was easy. These are the documents you need, and this links to the stores.

High end coffee shops have free wifi, but I think that it's hard to beat the convenience of a phone and your own number.

Talkatone worked great for us in SE Asia (iPhone).

I use OTO app. Not always great, though.
