Looking for an American graphic novel about middle school.

I read an American graphic novel five years ago about a girl in middle school (but not by Lynda Barry) and I wish I could find it again.
The book recounted the experience of a girl in middle school, and I think it was a memoir. It was a funny book with stories about how mortifying middle school can be. I think the author's last name was Thomson (or Thompson) but I'm not really sure. The pictures were in color, and the style reminded me a lot of Lynda Barry.

Blankets? Been a long time since I've read it.
