Vitruvian Man clip art?

Anyone know where I can find a print quality (near 300 dpi) source of Da Vinci's "Vitruvian-Man" that can fill an 11 X17 poster? Baring THAT, does anyone know of a site that has print quality downloads of famous arts works that are in the public domain?

Best answer: A friend and I do not know of a place to get high quality prints online for free that are in the public domain. As my friend, a Ph.D. student in art history, said, "That is a fantasy."

He suggested the following: "I think that he should do what anyone else would do, and go to a fine arts library and look up monographs on Leonardo that were published before 1922 and scan whatever takes his fancy."

"It would not be hard to find in an old book. Libraries might be gumpy about letting you scan fom a tome that old, but that is another issue.

"They are usually pretty open to using digital cameras on old books. Scanning breaks the binding, but cameras can be used with the book flat on a table..."

You might consider using something like Genuine Fractals. Given a decent file to start with, it *may* work for you.

This one should work. You can drop the resolution down to 150dpi and still have it print - just make sure to not resample in Photoshop.

Response by poster: Thanks O9scar, but the original scan seemed to be low rez.

I opted for the scanning out of a book and $30 books later I have what I need AND a very nice book of Da Vinci drawings. Woot Woot!
