Basic DVD/Blu-ray player?

Looking for a basic DVD + Blu-Ray player with HDMI. Doesn't need any kind of network streaming (TV and other devices handle that already). Ideally under $100. Am okay with buying used off craigslist or something if the model is known to be pretty reliable. Suggestions?

Best answer: I bought this Sony at random on Amazon earlier this year and it has been fine.

Best answer: I just bought that same Sony. Works great.

There's a comparably priced player (a Vizio) from Wal-Mart as well.

New bluray players from samsung/sony/panasonic seem under $100 judging by bestbuy & amazon, i wouldn't bother off craigslist.

You might consider one that can handle netflix / your streaming service of choice, but most devices do.

I have a Panasonic that annoys the hell out of me whenever I use it. It's a few years old which might be the reason for its minor issues which include unresponsive buttons, lengthy load times, etc. These were common issues of BD players over the first few years of production.

If I were in the market for one now, I'd probably look at Sony or Samsung. Both have several options under $100.

One recommendation, even if you don't want to use it for streaming services, be sure to have it connected to the internet. Reason being that there are occasional necessary firmware updates.

Response by poster: Went with the Sony, since I'd already looked at that. We'll see how it holds up!
