Cross-platform (Android and iOS/iPad) annotation of ebooks

I agree, Dropbox works really well for PDFs. But I'm having trouble with, say, a DRM-ed Nook ebook. Short of jailbreaking them, converting to a PDF I could then store on Dropbox, are there apps that would let me sync annotations without breaking DRM? My sense is that there aren't... ?

You have tried calibre? My digital library is made up of various ebook file types and I do not have a problem with them in drop box or gdrive.
