If you use a coupon at a chain hair salon does the stylist get paid any less?

I usually go to a local/independent place but my usual person has erratic & limited hours, so sometimes I use chain. There's always a manager or someone else around there otherwise I'd just ask personally. I tip the same regardless of whether I have a coupon.

Would especially like answers from someone in the business.

Best answer: I don't work for a chain and never have, but I am a hairdresser. In my experience of having people use vouchers, it totally depends on whether I'm making some sort of hourly wage or being paid on commission. It also depends on how shitty my boss is. The probability that the stylist will be paid less as a result of a coupon is perhaps not high, but it's not out of the question. If it's really important that you know, just ask, regardless of who else is around. If your stylist feels uncomfortable telling you the truth, they'll lie or decline to answer.
