Film making in Northeastern England

What does the documentary film making scene look like in Northeastern England? Where would one start looking for a community? jobs? opportunities?

A quick Google turned up Amber-Online, which looks like it might be a good place to start. I also found this course at Newcastle University, which seems to indicate that it's an area of interest. Hope that helps!

Used to have a few friends who volunteered at the Star and Shadow in Newcastle; exists mostly to show indy films but is a community hub for film-makers in the NE I believe. Might be worth getting in touch.
