Super-important-room Names
September 25, 2012 1:34 PM

The Situation Room. Mission Control. The Batcave. Give me some more super-important-room names.

I am helping to name a venue that will host conference-style talks as well as fun events. I am looking for well-known names I can either use or modify (read: make stupid puns with). Hope me?

A few years back, I was in a comedy pilot titled "El Presidente." The titular dictator had an impenetrable bunker beneath his mansion, named (if I remember correctly) the All-purpose Reinforced Cement Headquarters In case of Emergency.

The ARCHIE Bunker.

It's a building not a room but I always thought The Hermitage was a cool name.

A lot of (mostly silly) name ideas in this arstechnica thread.

Übermind in Seattle named all their rooms after StarCraft buildings.

The Space Shuttle had the Flight Deck, the Middeck, and the Cargo Bay.

The two coolest rooms I've ever personally been in are the VAB (Vehicle Assembly Building, which is mostly open space) and the SSPF (Space Station Processing Facility, where all the other-than-Russian (aka USOS) parts of the ISS were readied for launch).

Also, of course, the transdimensional something something, aka THE CLOSET, from Doctor Science.

I just want to point out that 2 of the things you favorited are from Harry Potter, which is fine if that is relevant to the people who will be using the room, but it might be viewed as too Young Adult and therefore not taken seriously.
