How best to sell a baby grand piano?

What's the best way to sell a Yamaha Baby Grand Piano in the Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania area?

We own a Yamaha GB1 from 2005. It's in Maryland. We moved to California, so we are planning on selling it. (By the way, I know that this particular Grand Piano – the GB1 – doesn't have a stellar reputation with purists. I have to say though that we have loved it and its tone and sound and really don't want to part with it. But we live in a tiny apartment and have no space for it on the west coast.) I had it appraised and was told the following:

Yamaha Baby Grand, Serial # J2213451 circa 2005 Indonesia

Replacement Value - this is what a like kind piano is currently retailing for in stores.
New pricing is $ 12,600 with street price of $ 9,500.00.

Market Value - is what you should hope to get from a individual, say in the newspaper or shopper. Your piano should bring approximately $ 5,500.00 to $ 6,200.00.

Wholesale Cash Value - is what a local music dealer will pay* or consign it for. Your instrument will bring between $ 3,200.00 and $ 3,500.00.

We are looking to sell it. What's the best way to do this, if I want to get somewhere between $5500 and $6200? I know about Craigslist and eBay and newspapers and can use them if they're the best options, but if there is something better I'd like to know. Thanks for your advice!

Music school? Sell to students, instructors, or the school itself?

The folks in the Piano Forum at Piano World would probably have good advice for you.

It will take you 5 minutes to take a couple photos and post it on Craigslist. I would start there and see what kind of interest you get.
