Internet top news stories aggregator.

Is there a news site that collects the "top news stories" from various news sites into a single site?

For example CNN, Time, and a hundred other sites have a "Top 10 [5] Time stories" in the sidebar. Does any site put these together to a single page? (Or have I had an actual original idea for a news site??)

What about digg.com?

I suppose that's "top stories" rated such by users, however... not news sites themselves. Hope it helps regardless.

Isn't that pretty much what Google News is supposed to be?

Or do you want everything broken out by source? Top Time stories followed by top CNN stories, etc?

It's a little more on the quirky/weird/entertaining news side, like reddit, but maybe you can search in fark.com?

Best answer: Alltop.com and its many branches.

Best answer: On your mobile device, there's Pulse and News 360 and Flipboard. On the web there's News Map.

Best answer: I feel like popurls sort of does this, but not explicitly which I think is what you are suggesting.

Yes, I would like to see Time's top five or top ten in one nested table, then CNN's list next to it, and on and on. Top stories as chosen by the individual site, or most emailed...whatever. Any and all of it. Google news is kind of there but emphasizes the top story of the hour, and doesn't list the top ten. I suppose not all news sites have that list in the sidebar, but it is pretty frequent.

Response by poster: Newsmap and especially popurls are really close to what I was thinking, thanks!

If you can ignore the spin, Drudgereport is a pretty good new aggregator.

I think Newser does this.

...this is basically the point of rss feeds. Get a gmail account, then get some news "gadgets" for iGoogle; with each feed you can customize the number of "top" articles shown.

My iGoogle homepage: NYT, NYT Politics, NPR, CNN, Wash Post, Google News. Can't be beat.

Invididurls lets you create a simple, clean aggregator.
