Are there accountants who handle health insurance?

My folks are swamped by their health insurance claims paperwork. Are there people in New York whom you can hire to take care of your health insurance paperwork the way an accountant takes care of your taxes?

Best answer: I think you are looking for what is called a "Claims Assistance Professional." The Alliance of Claims Assistance Professionals website lets you search for CAPs in your area.

Another good search term is health advocacy consulting. I can't recommend a specific service, and it's a young enough discipline that well-defined standards of professional certification don't really exist yet, but I think nursing is a often a good background for a practitioner, or case management in a hospital.
