Is it safe to put rags with Murphy's Oil Soap on them in the dryer? (I'm putting them in the washer first, obviously, but all the warnings on my dryer about oil and grease are making me nervous.

Best answer: Yes, it's a soap made from oils. The saponification process converts the oils to soap, so not only is there no oil left but it's really just extra soap in your wash cycle and comes right out.

(The main culprit of oil-soaked-rag fires is linseed oil, but as I understand it any oil that slowly oxidizes at room temperature can get hot enough to spontaneously ignite. That includes most food oils.)

Running the rags through an extra rinse cycle with some vinegar will get more of the soap out. I do this routinely with all my laundry due to our weird well water.
