Hair stylist for thinning hair?

Can you recommend someone in NYC who can cut thinning hair well?

I have trichotillomania, which causes weak and thinning hair and is embarrassing. The thought of going to a hair stylist and explaining why my hair looks like it does is really anxiety-provoking. I would like someone who can make my hair look decent and who is also experienced and compassionate in dealing with people who have thinning hair due to medical/psychological issues. My condition has always been mild enough that it wasn't really visible, but lately it's gotten kind of bad. I'm dealing with the underlying causes, but it'll be awhile before my hair grows enough for it to no longer be a problem. I don't have any bald spots, just thin areas and breakage from the pulling.

There are probably 2 ways you can go here:
1) go to a salon that specializes in patients with health problems (most cater to cancer)
2) go to a place that has private rooms, which usually happens for weaves or for fancy rich people

I can't help you our much with the first type though I am sure you can google it, but here are some NYC salons with private rooms:
