can't believe I'm asking this

Dear Ask MetaFilter, I never thought this would happen to me: requesting recommendations for a private house cleaning service in Durham, NC.
We've decided to take the advice we've repeatedly been given to get a house cleaning service for the period in which my newborn is newly born. But as a perpetual student I have no idea how to accomplish this goal, and no coworkers to mine for personal recommendations.
Please feel free to MeMail me with specific names and phone numbers of specific services if you don't want to put them in the thread itself. Thank you!

Best answer: And as far as the "how," you would call them and they would send someone out to your house to produce an estimate (I think -- either that or they take a description of your place over the phone). But they discuss what you want done, they produce an estimate, and then you can decide whether to start service. They have a no-pressure communication style. They may even do the first one for free, but I can't remember exactly so don't hold them to it. Anyway, good luck!

We use Carpe Diem, and like them pretty well. I *love* having the house cleaned. We have them come monthly, and it costs $134 for our ~2100sqft house.
