Science fiction/horror movie marathon time!
Hello there. I'm looking for some recommendations (or memory-jarrings) of good 90s/00s sci-fi/horror movies/creature features along the lines of The Relic, Mimic, Species, Event Horizon and suchlike. Thanks in advance!

I was recently introduced to Pontypool, if you like Zombie flicks, it's worth your time.
Also, for a change of pace, you should include the black and white Call of Cthulu, it was released in 2005.

Cube is one of the best movies of the 90s, horror or not. Avoid the sequels, though.

Let The Right One In (original Swedish film - 2008) is the greatest vampire film ever made. Let Me In, the American remake (2010) may not strictly fit with your 2000's criteria, but it is also very good. Neither one of those films may be actually be a horror flick.
In a similar vein (hehe) is 30 Days of Night (2008). I think this is a severly over-rated film but it always gets high marks. In line with your comparison films.

Agreed that the Descent is fantastic. I screamed out loud at one point. Also Let the Right One In. Neither one has sci-fi elements, though Creature Features describes them well.
Insidious, which is my sons' favorite horror movie right now, is so scary and creepy that I wanted to turn on all the lights in the house. My guys love horror movies, and even they were gleefully terrified and creeped out by that one. It is also not sci-fi, more paranormal. It's by the people who did Saw and Parnormal Activity, so there's some indication of whether you will like it.
If you like fantasy in your sci-fi, and need a break from a bit of the intensity, you could throw Troll Hunter in the mix for fun.

Thanks for the responses so far everybody. They're all good recommendations but just wanted to gently remind or perhaps clarify that I was after sci-fi-horror, not sci fi/horror. Slither, Pitch Black, Sunshine, Cube, and Splice are exactly the sort of thing I mean. Cheers!
