"Overseas" Paypal rejected by Archie McPhee

I found some fun stuff for my nieces in Oregon for Christmas at Archie McPhee, which I heard about at meFi. But I was bummed when I tried to check out and they rejected Visa and even PayPal because I live overseas. Is there a way around this?

I'm used to the cc rejection, but PayPal I thought was just one big happy family. They made me switch to PayPal Japan a couple years ago, but everything works the same, and it's for domestic delivery. Anyway, is there some smarter way to set up PayPal to avoid this? Once I showed my wife the pickle toothpaste, cupcake lip balm and sassy magic 8-ball, it seems like nothing else will do.

It could just be a limitation of their e-commerce software. Can you call them via Skye Out or Google Voice?

I had a similar problem a while back ordering some gifts to be delivered in the states but paid for with a canadian credit card - I contacted the company through e-mail, and they made up and e-mailed me a payment form to fill out and e-mail back.

Response by poster: Yeah, they advised me that it sometimes works to enter a US state with the billing address, but the cc processor was hip to that skip, which guess I should be glad about. I just realized I can post this as a job, so I think I'll do that.

Response by poster: Resolved. I was able to find a proxy buyer. Thanks.
