Child Car Seat in a Tacoma Access Cab?
I know it's possible. I know it's not the safest. Is it safe enough?
I would be using it every now and then, but we have a primary child car that we'd use most of the time.

Which year truck ? What age kid ? The first gen tacos didn't have the LATCH system. The second gen is a larger truck, and I know the 12 Taco has it, because I just bought one.
I think you'll prefer the AC over the reg cab in any event.

Friends of mine have no problem fitting two car seats into a 2010 Tacoma access cab.

I don't know the Access Cab.
I had a 2004 Tacoma XCab (FWIW). It had latch and worked for infant, rear facing and front facing seats as well as booster seats. The tight quarters and the LATCH system as implemented in the XCab and the strapping system for the car seat made it next to impossible to get the car seats in safely. We ended up using a Mighty Tite on it which was about the only thing that made it safe.
I dropped the Tacoma this past year since I have a child with disabilities that made accessibility harder and harder as she's grown. Getting her in and getting in to buckle was getting progressively harder.
