please help me find this song from Bones!!!

i have searched EVERYWHERE for this song from an episode of Bones. It's in season 2, episode 12, when howard epps (serial killer) breaks into brennan's apartment. just prior to that, they show brennan's bathroom door as she is showering and a song is playing: female vocal, singing, "there's a contradiction, it's won my heart and my mind..." and then cuts off to the next shot. for the life of me, i can't find that song! it almost sounds jazz-y, or of the chillout genre or something. does ANYONE know this song or know how i would find it? please help! thanks!

Have you tried using Shazam or similar music recognition apps?

Response by poster: yes, unfortunately it's too short of a soundbite for them. i'd love to include a video clip of the scene, but i can't even find that! argh!

http://www.tunefind.com/show/bones/season-2 says its What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love and Understanding? by Nick Lowe http://youtu.be/CRrK2BlhdEA (not the best video but all i can find are live versions)

I've found several other versions (my favorite is http://youtu.be/Sk0zmMN2J9M done by A Perfect Circle)

the only female vocals I've found is http://youtu.be/-q36j7V7FB8 but don't think thats the one... too bouncy, not at all jazzy to me

The Bones wiki gives two songs in that episode:

"What's So Funny About Peace Love and Understanding" - Elvis Costello
"Running Up That Hill" - Placebo

I guess Placebo kind of sounds like a woman singer? Neither song has those lyrics.

That's actually a different song that plays at the end of the episode. I know the one the OP is talking about. It's playing on the radio when Brennan is in the shower and Epps is sneaking up on her. I've tried to find it too but no luck.

@Katyggls luckily Bones is on netflix... I'm going to have to go watch the episode now... maybe if I hear the song it'll help! :)

For those with instant-streaming netflix, it's at about 37:40 of this episode. (I think links like that work?)

I think that's a mistake. Running Up That Hill is prominently featured in the episode before this one, "Judas On A Pole". Someone probably listed it on the wiki for this episode by mistake. It's definitely not the song the OP is referring to.

to me it sounds like "There's a contradiction between the heart and the mind" or between my heart and my mind... the only thing I found for that was Enigma "Between mind and heart" http://youtu.be/wj3t0iRNZ6M but I don't hear that line in the version of the song I found either...

you're right, it does sound more jazzy... and now I want whatever song it is, lol

For anyone who doesn't have Netflix who wants to listen to the clip, I made a small audio file of the clip. I too have been looking for this song forever, so kudos to anyone who can figure it out.

I thought that it might be ID'd in the CC, but it only says " shower running, radio playing music." Perhaps someone with hulu+ or the dvd can check if CC is more helpful there? (I think there are different types of CC options used.)

Even this site which seemingly lists all the music in every episode doesn't know what the song is. The full credits on IMDB list two people for "composer: additional music (uncredited)." Is it possible they wrote a clip of a song for the episode?

The lyrics are "there's a contradiction between the heart and the mind." There's nothing on Google for these lyrics except searches for this info!

People have been looking for this a long time (unless they're all you carlypennylane) - Yahoo, tv.com, heard on tv and Ways to Self Improvement. No luck on any of them though.

Remember, too...The song listings you find online are for the original broadcast. IF song rights can't be secured for secondary markets (i.e. Syndication or DVD) the producers will replace the song with a different tune they do have rights to.

I was going to suggest what asciident said above. Searching for lyrics has never once failed me in locating a song so I'm guessing this is a one-off clip created for the show. It's only one line with no rhyme and a few seconds of a background beat. I wouldn't be surprised if it was even Emily Deschanel doing the vocal. The lyrics fit with the general sexual tension storyline, though I'm not familiar with that episode.

Oh, you have a good couple of points, stopgap. Emily Deschanel has sung at least once on camera for the show, so I wouldn't be surprised either if they recorded a line or two. I too was struck by how the lyric fits the show perfectly.
