Is the an ipad or iphone app. that would keep track of my user id and passwords from various websites, i.e. banks, credit cards companies, etc. Thanks

What kind of functionality are you looking for? I mean, you could just use Notes to keep a long list of them, but I'm guessing you might want more features than that.

eWallet Go would do that, and encrypt them.

For years, I've used Ascendo DataVault because it has Windows, Mac, BlackBerry and iOs versions that can all sync together via wifi and local network. They have a DropBox sync functionality as well but I've resisted cloud sync for my passwords and private info.

I'm using Keepass, as it works across my mac, windows machine, and iphone. I keep an encrypted password db in the cloud via Dropbox.

By the way - the encryption I mentioned is done with my own keys, and has nothing to do with Dropbox. So I am fairly confident that my passwords are safe.

1pasword Nth+however-many. Just checked and DataVault doesn't appear to be quite there yet. If you use Safari, especially, you'll miss 1Password's integration there. 1Password has been around longest and seems to be setting the standard.

Seconding KeePass. It's open source, free, and available on multiple platforms. Which is useful for that day that you change your mind about Apple. I'm running it on Android mobile and Linux desktop. Encrypted of course.

I've been meaning to set something like this up for a while now, so thanks for the suggestions. 1Password looks pretty god but, at $10.49, it's a bit expensive for me. There is a free version of KeePass called MiniKeePass that looks like it provides much the same functionality except for not syncing across multiple devices.

I use SplashID, which has been around for a while and has Mac and Windows desktop clients. Mostly it's because I started using it on a Palm clone and never looked back.

Many password keepers have plugins for desktop browsers which are supposed to fill in user names and passwords. 1Password is notable for being among the earliest to do this, though other programs have caught up. There are a vast variety of password keepers for iOS, with tons of important features to consider.

1Password. Has anyone mentioned that yet?. It also can use your dropbox account to keep you synced across multiple computers and iOS devices.
