Looking for a high school production of Our Town within two hours of NYC in October

Hi, I know this is a strange question, but it's for a good cause. My wife and I met and started dating 15 years ago when we were cast in my high school's production of Our Town. Our anniversary is mid-October, and I'd like to take her to see a HS production of the play as a surprise. We live in NYC, have a car, and I'm happy to drive a couple hours to make this happen. Help me askmefi, you're my only hope!

That sounds absolutely lovely! The closest I could dig up so far was this community theater production in November in Brewster, NY. I bet there will be something closer given how frequently Our Town is performed.

Out of random curiosity, what parts did you two play? Good luck with this great surprise and many happy returns on the day.

This is just speculation, because it's been <30 mumble mumble> years since my (peripheral) involvement in high school drama. Putting on a play that close to the beginning of the semeseter / school year seems unlikely to me. I seem to remember plays happening much closer to the end of the year.

Actually high schools around here now put on a lot more performances. Both of my children's schools do 3 plays a year - Oct, Feb and May. Usually one musical, one drama, one comedy. I think your best bet is to get a list of regional schools and check out each website. We are 3 hours away or I would check around here for you - someone is always doing that play!

This is a long shot, but you might be able to find out from Samuel French, which handles the performance rights for this play.
