Name that landscape painter

What American (?) naturalist landscape painter am I thinking of? I took this photo in Ketchikan, Alaska while on vacation last week. It reminds me of a painter who painted grand American landscapes with lots of lush detailed realistic trees (and mountains), maybe in the past 100 years. I feel like I'd have seen his work on posters or calendars, or promoting US conservation groups. Any ideas?

Sounds like the Hudson River School, perhaps Albert Bierstadt?

Yeah Hudson River sounds right. Maybe one of these guys?

Or, more modern: Russell Chatham? His paintings appear on several Jim Harrison book covers.

I was gonna say Bierstadt as well. Storm in the Rocky Mountains, Mt. Rosalie comes to mind.

First person I thought of was Asher Brown Durand, particularly Kindred Spirits; although upon Googling it's not as similar in composition as I recalled it in my head.

My first thought was William Henry Jackson but he's a photographer.

Probably not, but it reminds me of Caspar David Friedrich or Ivan Shishkin.

Response by poster: Thank you, everyone, for these suggestions. I don't think I've found the one I'm looking for yet, but I'm learning a lot! Much appreciated.
