Looking for a hair stylist in Vancouver, particular punk hairdo information follows....
My late 20s female fiance is looking for a (goth/punk/cool) hair stylist in Vancouver that can do a mowhawk, or deathhawk or something in that style.
First time hair-cut in the Vancouver area, willing to travel within the lower-mainland (Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, North Vancouver, Surrey) if necessary, being near transit is a plus.
Attached are some links to some photos of what she's aiming for.

I know this is not what you asked, but fwiw, that type of haircut is easy to give. IANAHS, but I wear my hear my like, and I do it myself. I also have given variants of this haircut to friends. Cutting hair is frightening at first, but just go slow, and think logically about how hair falls. Spend a lot of time looking at the desired haircut, form a plan of attack, and then start cutting. Cut with confidence - the confidence that if you fuck it up, a professional can fix it. Or go to a pro right off the bat, the safe route. But nothin's more punk than a diy haircut.

I've had a lot of luck asking people who cuts their hair - my best-ever haircuts were from a friend of a friend.
Also, I've had good luck calling a new salon and describing my hair, then asking for the person who has the most experience with that texture/type. My hair is very thick, straight and coarse, so if I'm paying perfectly good money at a salon I like to make sure that I don't get the person who specializes in razor cuts for fine, thin hair.

Chenoa* at Beehive! She does lots of unconventional hair (as well as conventional styles, of course). Here is a facebook album of some of her work. The unicorn always blows my mind.
*full disclosure, she is a friend-of-a-friend.
