Comedy is...

Help me identify a quote. In an old Simpsons commentary, Matt Groening was quoting somebody when he said, "Comedy is watching a dumb man think." At least this is what I thought he said. Who originally said this, or something like this?

I have since forgotten where this was found. Googling doesn't really help as the results I get were sites for Dumb and Dumber and dumb comedies. Thanks for your help! I would love to use it for a paper.

Best answer: I've heard Groening quote Buster Keaton as saying "The audience loves a slow thinker" in reference to Fry from Futurama. (He said this in the commentary for the Futurama episode "I, Roommate".)

On redirect, Your Honor, Matt was referring to Hattie (she of the lazy eye and "You young watchamacallit!") rather than Fry.

Oh, that could be - it's been a while since I watched it.
