Automagic Car Wash.

One of my favorite things as a kid was to sit in the car as it went through an automatic car wash. Where in Chicago would you advise me to experience this thrill again?

I now have a car that I care to keep pretty-looking, so I'm looking for a car wash. But I want it to be fun and awesome for me too; big brushes swooping down over the windshield, water jets pounding the windows, dancing robots, the works. What places in and around Chicago do you know of that provide the most exhilarating, soapy conveyor belt ride? Obviously I want this to be good for the car too.

I just took my car through the place on Cortland and Elston, the Star Car Wash. 5 bucks, and it's super fun! I'm sure there are fancier places, though.

Response by poster: I've always admired Star Car Wash's sign... I don't care for fancy, just the mundane awesome of going through the darn thing.

Uptown Car Wash at 4900 N. Broadway 60640 - cheaper on weekdays and you get to people watch as you stand in line with the taxis. And there is great dimsum up the street.

Seconding the car wash suggested by mutt.cyberspace. I think it's called National Car Wash. Though there are no robots (that I can tell), it's cheap and it has everything else you're looking for.

On Fullerton just east of the Kennedy, there's a $3 car wash. I got mine washed there last weekend. They do a good job. You should be able to get your kicks there.
