Fun, romantic things to see and do in Atlantic City

Looking for fun/romantic things to do in Atlantic City, NJ. Best restaurants, best romantic gay-friendly hotels, don't miss events or locations? Things beyond the casinos.
Metafilter came through on my last vacation question, so I'm back with a new question :)
My partner and I are celebrating 10 years since our public commitment ceremony :) We would like to spend a weekend in Atlantic City (May 6 - May 8). I have been checking out the Atlantic City events calendar, but would like ideas from people who have been there
Please recommend fun/romantic things for a lesbian couple to do!
We are planning to catch a show Friday night and hit the casinos. But we don't want all of our time to be at the casinos. My mom recommended Harrahs' The Pool, but I'm not sure we'd be comfy being snuggly in the hot tub with the heterosexual couples around. Different places have different tolerances...
We enjoy *good* food and are willing to pay for it. There are some celebrity chef restaurants -- do you recommend any of them or another delicious restaurant?
Thanks fellow MeFites! :)
A small complication, my partner is still recuperating from a foot reconstruction. I am trying to convince her to use a scooter for the larger venues. I have fairly bad arthritis and have to watch my activity/standing time.

Let me amend myself.....the Borgata is the casino you can go to in AC where you can go to and gambling is NOT your only option. They have a pretty good spa there too.
Have fun and congratulations!

My folks have always liked the Crab Trap restaurant about 20 minutes away in Somers Point. Can be busy, so you might call ahead. When we visit, we always make a least one stop at Custards Last Stand in Ventnor.

Best answer: First off.. congratulations!
During the day, the Pool at Harrah's is supposed to be a very cool place. I haven't been, but a few people I know have and it's been recommended to me. Large, indoor pools and cabanas for rent. The Pool at Harrah's is a club at night.. dance music, large crowd, $20-30 door charge. Been there, but I am not a fan of it and think that there are better places to spend time in AC. (The crowd at night is 20/30's, prototypical Jersey Shore scene.)
I would recommend nearly everything at Caesar's, Harrah's, or Borgata. Those are the three casinos/hotels in town that have spent the most money on renovations lately. Great rooms, great bars, great spas at all of them.
I'm partial to Caesar's because I like being on the Board. For food: good steak at Morton's, great seafood at Phillip's Seafood and my favorite Irish bar food at Trinity Pub (Phillip's/Trinity are in the attached Pier Shops at Caesar's). For drinks, I spend most of my time at the Toga Bar, on the casino floor, which has dance music on Friday/Saturday nights. There is also a new "Beer Garden" that has opened on the Boardwalk outside Caesar's, but I've yet to try.
Caesar's has the Qua Spa and Baths, which is very nice (my wife likes it). Harrah's has an Red Door Spa and I'm sure the Borgata spa is also top notch.
I am also a really big fan of the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum on the Boardwalk!
(My wife and I will be in AC on the 6th for the Usher concert at Boardwalk Hall!)

Oh and I also meant to mention.. about 15 minutes north of AC is Galloway Township, which has a really great Red Door Spa at a golf course. My wife has gone there and loved it- I assume that the one at Harrah's is just as nice, if not better.

I don't know if this would interest you, but Absecon Lighthouse is a fun place to visit. It might be bad for you all with your current health restrictions, but I've visited it with someone with arthritis and she was OK with climbing the steps, as long as we took things slowly.

Visit Cape May -- either day trip or split time between AC and Cape May.

Response by poster: Thanks to everyone for your input. We wound up sharing a rotten bug and postponing AC. But I now have the info I need to plan a trip later this summer :)

Also, consider the Marina district; specifically, the Borgata, which is probably the casino in AC where you can go to and have gambling be presented as your only option. .
