What is this tune?

Can you identify this tune? It's really bothering me.

I have no idea as to what it actually is, but it sounds like a Strauss waltz or something similar to me. Are you sure it's in 6/8? It has a very 3/4 feel to me..

orthog: That's the wrong Parson's code - tied notes don't count as repeats. Using *RUDURUDDR gives me:

Donizetti, Gaetano: La fille du Régiment Act I: Chacun le seit, or
Allemanda

...neither of which are right. At a loss from here I'm afraid.

I think the Parson's code is *RUDURUDDRUDDDDDUUDU.

Where'd you get this graphic? Did you make it? Did you transcribe this from memory, or from an audio source?

I'm pretty sure it's an orchestral piece and is quite possibly by Strauss (and in 3/4 time not 6/8). 2001 rings a bell - it's not the Blue Danube though. jmcmurry, I transcribed it from an untitled mp3 I must have downloaded some time ago. I'm not sure about the key - D major doesn't feel right, but the version I have (transcribed for two guitars) is in that key.

It's not the main theme of the Blue Danube, but I'm fairly sure that piece contains melodies other than the famous Da Da Da Da Da - Ba Ba - Ba Ba bit.
