Decently priced Pilates studio?
February 1, 2011 11:44 AM

I'm looking for a decent Pilates studio in NYC, that doesn't cost a billion dollars.

I'd love to try Pilates (the "Reformer" type where you're in the crazy torture machines - not the mat classes), but the studios my friends go to charge 30 bucks a class. Alas, too rich for my blood.

Does anyone know of a halfway decent Pilates studio that isn't so expensive? 20 bucks a class would be doable. Anywhere in NYC is fine, but downtown Manhattan or Northern Brooklyn would be best.

I've heard a tip that lots of places will give you a discounted rate if you talk with them and say you want to try it but you're not sure. I'm not from around NYC but I'd hope you could look something up for your area, if you wouldn't mind sifting through the unfortunately inevitable varied options and rate comparisons. Good luck!

Sixth Street Pilates on East Sixth Street has very affordable Pilates classes ($14/class) with great teachers.

[This is an old question and maybe you found a studio by now, but it was in the "Stumped" section.]
