Pitching a Radio Show

Best practices for pitching a public radio show?
My collaborator and I are starting work developing a show pitch for CBC radio. The show will be based on our dating/relationship podcast (but significantly more polished and radio friendly).
Aside from following the CBC pitch guidelines, how can we increase our chances of being picked up? Sadly neither of us have much journalism or media training or experience.

You had me at hello, the art of the pitch which is a couple of producers who take pitches talking about good practices.
AIR's pitch panel where producers make actual pitches and then get feedback on their pitches and their projects. A really interesting listen.
