As chance would have it...

There is a line that goes something like, "As a matter of fact (person) is here with me and he says (exactly what I just said only more so)." I vaguely recall this being from the movie industry (or a film about the movie industry) and that Roger Ebert was playing on it in the review that started, "As chance would have it, I have won the Pulitzer Prize..." Unfortunately, my Google-fu is weak today. What's the original line and where is it from?

Woody Allen, Annie Hall I think, but it may be an earlier movie.

Another bit from Annie Hall that's hilarious: he refuses to go into a showing of "The Sorrow and The Pity" because they have missed the first fifteen minutes. ;)

Ah, an AskMe I couldve answered, not just opined about! What theodolite said. Here's a transcript, from the point where Woody Allen addresses the audience:

Woody Allen: What do you do when you get stuck on a movie line with a guy like this behind you? It’s just maddening.

Stranger behind him in line: Wait a minute, why can’t I give my opinion? It’s a free country!

Allen: He can give - but do you have to give it so loud? I mean, aren’t you ashamed to pontificate like that? And, and the funny part of it is, Marshall McLuhan – you don’t know anything about Marshall McLuhan’s work.

Stranger: Oh really? Really? I happen to teach a class at Columbia called TV, Media and Culture. So I think that my insights into Mr McLuhan, well, have a great deal of validity.

Allen: Oh do you? Well, that’s funny, because I happen to have Mr McLuhan right here, so, so – here, just let me – Come over here for a second. [to McLuhan] Tell him.

McLuhan: I heard what you were saying. You know nothing of my work. You mean my whole fallacy is wrong. How you ever got to teach a course in anything is totally amazing.

Allen: Boy, if life were only like this.

I wonder if the scene you're thinking of is when Woody Allen (Alvie Singer) suggests they go see Sorrow & Pity (again) because they have missed merely the opening credits / first few min of a Bergman film. Too funny.
