Soundbar for PC gaming - UK?

I'm looking for recommendations (or dissuasion) for a soundbar for PC gaming. (anon because this is for a gift)

I'd like to get my partner a soundbar for his PC - mostly for gaming and listening to music. He doesn't really watch TV/Movies on his PC. I've looked for online reviews but I haven't been able to come up with much.

My questions are:
1. Are there any decent soundbars for PC gaming?
1a) if so, which is the best
1b) which is the best value for money

2. The computer room is small and shared (with 1 other person ) will that affect how well it works?

3. Anything else I need to know/think about that I might not have considered?

My budget isn't huge on this <£150, ultimately I want to get the best I can (or not at all if there's nothing good available yet). The main advantage would be space-saving but decent surround sound would be good to have - we currently use 5.1 surround sound speakers but we don't have room behind the desks to put the read speakers so they sit on the desk with the front and center speakers so any improvement on that arrangement would be great.

I love this Sony Soundbar, though I've got it hooked up to my xbox/tv, not the computer. It's amazing how well it works for games. You can tell when things are behind you pretty easily. It's an HDMI switch so you can plug multiple inputs into it, as well, if you have more than a computer.

The only problem is that it helps to have a little bit of distance from it for it to work properly (at least 2-3 feet), so I'm not sure how using it for a computer would be -- maybe putting it behind the monitor, or on the wall above it?
