I love peppercorn sauce. I'm a vegetarian. What can I eat it with?

I've eaten it with Quorn and other meat substitutes before, but I'd rather have it with... you know, proper food. Grilled portabello mushrooms are great, too - but I was wondering if you guys had some other suggestions.

Ooh, and bonus points if anyone has a great recipe for peppercorn sauce.

Best answer: I really like it on asparagus, and I would imagine it would also be great with any grilled veggie.

Best answer: Grilled or pan-fried tempeh and mashed potatoes!

Best answer: Over baked potatoes! Use for dunking the corners of a grilled cheese sandwich. It would also be good drizzled over fried eggs, if you eat eggs.

(Damn, I gotta stop reading food-related posts at lunchtime!)

Best answer: Cacio e pepe, spaghetti with pecorino romano cheese and black pepper, scratches a similar itch for me although it doesn't use peppercorn sauce. Simple, delicious, cheesy, peppery.

Best answer: Pan fried broccoli stalks sliced into .5cm pieces.

Best answer: Try making a peppercorn sauce using green peppercorns instead of black. I had that once in a restaurant (on a filet mignon, but...) and it was awesome.

Best answer: I eat meat, but still my favourite way of eating peppercorn sauce is over sliced fried mushrooms on garlic bread. Yum!

Best answer: I second the fried tempeh suggestion. Another way to eat it might be drizzled over deep-fried polenta and a touch of creme fraiche.
