I'm looking for the title to a children's book. It was about a hippopotamus or a rhino who felt inadequate who on a walk met different animals he wished he was like and then had a dream in which he had one body part of each of the animals he wanted to be more like.

Hmm...this sounds very much like The Mixed Up Chameleon, by Eric Carle. Same storyline, anyway!

On quick search I can't find a detailed summary, but maybe "But Not The Hippopotamus"?

Best answer: I remembered a key word --ridiculous--and was able to actually google with that word and come up with the title of the book, published in 1966 and again in 1994. "You look ridiculous said the rhinoceros to the hippopotamus'' by Bernard Waber.
