Professors make excuses, too.

Help me find this blog post or online article in which a professor humorously reverses classic student excuses for lateness/underperformance!

I saw this just a few weeks ago, but neglected to bookmark and haven't had any luck tracking it down since. It was framed as a memo from a professor to students, with the prof begging the students' pardon for forgetting to announce a last-minute exam because (a) her grandmother had died, (b) she really needed good evals in the course, etc., etc.

It may well have been linked from here, but could just as easily have been on aldaily or some other random corner of the web (hence, the AskMe vs. MeTa). Unfortunately, all the terms/phrases I remember are far too common to be Google-able, and browsing archives hasn't turned up anything useful. Anybody remember this?

Is this what you're looking for?

Response by poster: Thanks, defcom1, but I don't think that's it. The page I'm looking for had the professor herself using the excuses to justify her bad behavior to her students.

Argh. I have been checking this thread since you posted it, racking my brains because I DO recall seeing this but can't for the life of me figure out where. As you say, it's not the easiest thing to google. I participate in an online post-sec instructors' forum and I will check there to see if anyone has an idea.

Well, I asked yesterday in my other forum. So far there are over 70 readers, but no one has any idea! I will continue to keep an eye out and post back if I find it.

Response by poster: Thanks, hurdy gurdy girl! I am glad that at least one other person can verify that I'm not just imagining this. I'll also keep sorting through my Firefox history when I get time, and post here if it turns up.
